FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED IS BELOW:

Your home is special to you. Fond family memories of holidays, special events, and growing a family are made here. Treat yourself to a lasting memory of your home or lake cottage with the commissioning of an original, hand-drawn pen and ink home portrait. Home portraits make great house warming gifts too!

You supply the photos and email them to me in a digital file - iPhone or similar photos are fine - you don't need a fancy camera. Please send several views. Photos taken low to the ground (looking UP at the house) from the front corners of your lot or beyond, are usually the best and show off your house's greatest angles. Just make sure you are far enough away to catch every corner of your house and landscaping. Also, to catch those great line defining shadows on the house and lawn/snow, take your photo on a bright, sunny day. If you would like certain trees/landscaping added or left out, we can arrange for that too. This is for a house portrait only (no people or pets, no exceptions please). Do you want to add just a spot of color to your portrait? I'd be happy to paint your front door. Just mention that in the order notes. Please let me know if you need the drawing by a specific date. Otherwise, allow 10 days from the date when all photos/information have been submitted, for shipping of your portrait.

This listing is for an 8 x 10 inch home portrait with a surrounding area of white measuring 11" x 14" (to fit a standard size 11" x 14" frame). It will be tucked into a clear cellophane protective sleeve so you can wrap a ribbon around it and give it as is, or frame it yourself.

FINISHING TOUCH IS THE FRAMING OF YOUR HOME PORTRAIT. I suggest using a narrow black frame which looks clean and classic with a home portrait. The surrounding white area I leave around the portrait sets it off nicely.

A commissioned home portrait allows you to give a personalized gift for a favorite hostess, house warming, Christmas, lake cottage, or childhood home for a reasonable price. And you won't have to worry about giving a duplicate gift!

Wondering how to get your home photo to me??? Just stand outside your home, directly in front, and snap a photo with your smart phone or digital camera. When placing the order for your Tiny Home Portrait, there will be a space providing for sending me a message and including a photo. That's it!!

8 x 10 portrait is ON SALE for $72.00, from now until December 15th!

Note: frame not included

I accept PayPal, credit cards, and Etsy Gift Cards.

TEACUPS, BOOKS, AND MORE

After 7 months of dry brushes, life has settled down again and
I'm ready to paint!

It's fun to have several things going at once and one of those will be a new children's story entitled,

LUCY
and
T H E   L O N E S O M E   P I N E

This story is dedicated to my little granddaughter, Lucy,
and I hope to have it ready for her and my shop by Christmastime.

Along with the book, I'm working on another Tea Cup Tale painting.  This order specified an inspirational quote behind the teacup to celebrate a friend's achievement of a doctorate degree.
See the shop listing to order your own china/mug painting

(A Tea Cup Tale dedicated to my Great Aunt Pearl.)

Also, a new shipment of my children's book will be arriving next Tuesday and can be ordered

Last of all, with the holidays right around the corner, I'm again taking orders for
Home/Front Door Portraits.
Those can be ordered
HERE.

Thanks for checking in.  It's good to be back!

HOME PORTRAIT

Working on this home portrait was SO MUCH FUN, and today it is on its way to Ontario!  What a treat, to be asked to do this!

She wanted to be sure I would include blue sky and their Canadian flag, front and center.

Putting special touches on the packaging is almost as fun as doing the painting itself.  I want any paintings or other artwork that goes out of Gillyflower Cottage to be fun to open along with reflecting something about myself.  On this package I did a little watercolor portrait of one of my favorite Native Wisconsin Wildflowers - the Coneflower.

Do YOU know someone who would like a portrait done of their home?  It makes a great housewarming, birthday, or anniversary gift.  Check it out here.  All it takes is a couple great shots from your iPhone - no fancy photography needed.  All the instructions are right on the listing.

Saw this on Facebook this morning and it says it all!

Thanks for looking!

FREEZING RAIN, SPRING, and the promise of PEONIES

Spring is teasing us this year with its elusiveness.

One day of milder temperatures, followed by many days of wind, cold, freezing rain, and clouds.  Those of us who live in the north are one hardy bunch. We know the warmer days will come.  We try to be patient.

Meanwhile . . . we plot, plan, dream, and fantasize about how beautiful our gardens will be this summer.

We bundle up, pull up our hoods, and do our daily garden inspection for some sign of life.  Look closely.  Bend down.  Squint.  Nope.  Move a few feet.  Bend.  Squint.  Bend further.  Yes!  There it is!  A little green shoot, barely visible, but boldly making its appearance in the garden!

Very soon now, green shoots will be everywhere.  And, once again, the promise of flowers and warmer days will come true.

Check out my Etsy shop here to find out about commissioning
an original and affordable custom portrait of your family home!
