IT'S WEDDING SEASON AND FLOWERS ABOUND!

It's wedding season and
WEDDING BOUQUET PORTRAITS
are keeping me busy these days!

A portrait of your wedding bouquet is a lasting memory of your big day! I have orders that brides themselves have ordered, bridesmaids have collectively given to the bride as a wedding gift, and mothers have given to their daughters.  Here are a few of the finished portraits:

I work from a photograph that you send when you order.  First the pen and ink outline is done and then the color is added.  Shown below is my next bouquet waiting to be painted.  This one is full of roses, astilbe, dahlias, and eucalyptus!

The portraits can be done in 3 different sizes.
Just use the pull down tab on the listing to choose
the dimensions that work best for you.
Your custom watercolor,
pen and ink portraits can be ordered here!

BELLA GOES TO CALIFORNIA and 26 UNDER $50

BELLA
12 x 12 oil on canvas

There's something about a new year that makes me want to have more spare surroundings.  So, I've been spending some time getting my art room all sorted out.  Pitching, paring down etc.   In doing this, I came across "Bella", a painting I did a couple years ago and had almost forgotten about.  Then I woke up this morning to the news that she's getting a new home in California!

This has inspired me to clean out the shop! Start fresh!
Buy some fresh paints and brushes and get those new ideas on canvas!

So, starting today there are 26 items in my shop listed at
under $50.00!
Check them out HERE.
Look for the ***** after a listing name to
find the new priced items and start fresh yourself
with a new piece of art for your tired 2016 walls!

Farewell to 2014.
It was a wonderful year and I learned so much!

Now we're balancing on the last petal of 2014 and in just a few hours a brand new year will be opening up right before our eyes.  I have no doubt that it will be a beautiful one, filled with new opportunities, new experiences, and new challenges.

"FRESH CUT" - DAY 2 of 30 PAINTINGS IN 30 DAYS

Day 2 of
30 PAINTINGS IN 30 DAYS

It was one of those beautiful, end-of-summer days - sunny and just enough humidity to make it still feel like summer.  What better place to spend a portion of the day than in my art room with the sun and breeze pouring in the open windows!

This jumble of paper, paints, brushes, and pens led to the petite 5 x 5 inch watercolor/pen/ink I have named, "FRESH CUT."   I have used 300# Arches watercolor paper which is a thick, 100% cotton fiber paper mouldmade in France.   The watercolors used are Sennelier, also made in France and with an increased amount of honey for luminous, lightfast color.

This flower would be an enchanting addition to your cottage garden.   It's a zinnia that is heavy on the petals and deep in the rosy-reds, and a little of the orange-reds on the petal tips.

"FRESH CUT"
5 x 5 inches
(ready for your mat and frame)
SOLD!

There is a little VIDEO showing the drawing and painting of "Fresh Cut" on my Facebook page, I hope you'll check it out by clicking the photo below!  While you're there, please click the "like" button so you can follow along on future Facebook posts for my "You Could Make That" blog.

THE ELEGANT COSMOS

Getting ready for . . .

3 0   P A I N T I N G S   I N   3 0   D A Y S

On September 1st, just a few days from now, I'll be participating once again in Leslie Saeta's, 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.  It truly IS a challenge to keep up with this painting frenzy but totally worth it.  Not only is it great practice to paint intentionally every day, but I also learn a lot about my painting style by taking part.  I kept up last year in spite of being on the road for 10 days of the challenge, so this year should be a piece of cake!

Today I warmed up my brushes with another flower portrait, the elegant Cosmos.  My garden has a good crop of white cosmos, but I enjoy my neighbor's multi-colored stand of this flower even more than my own.  Her cosmos self-seed every year and they're beautiful!

RED COSMOS
3.5 x 5 inches
(sold with mat included to fit your standard 5 x 7" frame)
