#1 A new table runner.
It didn't look like much before ironing . . .
but burlap makes nice, crisp pleats when it's steam ironed.
The bottom of the pleats are just fringed with an added line of machine stitching to keep it from continuing to "fringe".
#2 Flash cards. Flash cards? Yes, I saw some of these in a shop in McKinney this winter. The shop owner had made some of her own flash cards with valentine vocabulary on them. They were placed around the shop and looked like the real deal - vintage flash cards.
If you google "vintage flash cards", you'll see cards like these.
So, I modeled mine after the cards above. Just round out the corners and then, if needed, use a little sand paper gently on the corner to give them that smooth, worn look.
#3 Tissue Paper Flowers. I wanted the table to look spring-like and fun. So along with real flowers, I added some tissue flowers. Why pink and green? That is the color of the dessert - more on that later. I'll pick up the real flowers on Friday and they'll go in the white painted wine and lemonade bottles. I got these two ideas from Jan's Valentine Dinner table. (Martha Stewart can teach you how to make these.)
Oh my gosh I just pretty much adore everything that you made!! I want to try those :)
