THE BEGINNINGS OF A FUN TABLE SETTING

Yesterday I showed some napkin ring ideas that I found on Pinterest.

Then I got busy making my own.

I'm going to have to make more of these because I love them all.  I ended up making some similar to the last photo.  I like the scrappy, Anthropologie look of using lots of different paper bits and pieces, along with charms, book pages, and trims.  I also like the idea of something casual and fun - too often we take ourselves way too seriously!

So.

Here's the final, unconventional, miss-matched result.  I started with some great quotes about "growing older", typed them in a font called "typewriter" on iPages, printed them on card stock rectangles, then cut a larger rectangle as a backing - and glued the two together.  There is a "photo" of all the quotes that you can drag onto a word document at the end of this post - if you're interested.
I rummaged around in my scrap boxes for some good textured papers, baker's twine, a pearl, book pages, ball trim, scrapbooking "gems", and - since these quotes are the "keys" to growing older gracefully - some key charms.  The corrugated paper discs below were punched from coffee sleeves.  Some pieces are glued together and some are sewn on the sewing machine.

So, today I'll be working on a new table runner and setting the table.  Even though it's only 9 degrees outside right now, the sun is shining and we have the promise of highs in the 50s tomorrow!  The snow will melt and it will really start to feel, look, and SMELL like spring!

Also.

Have you signed up for my pillow giveaway that's

  2. What font did you use on the tags? I like it. It looks like it came off an old typewriter.
