TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG?

I now have 492 of you who have chosen to follow along on this little journey and I've had a little internal celebration every time another follower joins my blog!  It is exciting to think I've almost hit 500 followers!  I also have over 750 people who have asked to receive blog updates via email!!!

But.

I haven't posted anything for over a week.  I'm kind of rethinking my priorities and spending a lot of time working in the yard.  I'm just not so sure I want to keep up with the circus of documenting everything I do and make anymore.  Taking the photos, editing the photos, writing the posts etc.  It all takes a lot of time!   I've started to think more about the hours that go into it all and I'm wondering if it's the best use of my time.

During that time I could be reading.

Or sewing.

Or making stuff.

I could be reading a LOT more and making a LOT more because I'd gain all those blogging hours.

So.  Those are my thoughts.

I've had some really sweet emails from a lot of you lately - thanking me for sharing my projects and instructions and that makes me feel that it HAS been a good use of my time.  I like knowing that I've encouraged so many people to be creative.

But, how long do you blog?  When do you stop?  If nothing else, I've left an 18 month journal for my grandchildren, or great-grandchildren etc.  If they should ever want to, they can learn more about their grandma (or great grandma) by reading a year and a half in the life . . .

Maybe I should just take a nice, long blogging break.

Or, maybe I'm done.

We'll see.

Whatever happens - in the words of Martha, "It's a good thing!"

:)

Balance in life is so important! And life is too short, so do whatever makes you feel best from day to day.

Nan,

As one who has blogged a lot in the past, I know where you are. Blogging, while fun, can take a great deal of continued energy. It's been my experience that only a select few keep it up for years without pause. (I am not one of the select few) Do what's best for you.

I love your blog! I also know how you feel though. I followed many blogs for quite a while then finally decided to start one of my own earlier this year. I only got a few things posted and then life got in the way. I keep wanting to post something but my projects lately have been failures or I forget to take pictures etc. You at least have 18 months worth of work and that's a lot of time! I say take a break and then reevaluate. I'll be here if and when you return.

You do whatever you need to do, Nan. You've given much of yourself and I'm most grateful for that. I've learned so much from you, already. If that's all there is for now, that's okay. Take your time. We'll all be here. Debra

I think we all have those thoughts. I haven't posted in a while. I have been working on things and taking pics, they are just not making it to my blog -go figure. :) Thanks for the great note.

As much as I enjoy following you and would miss you, your family and time should come first. Enjoy this life that you were given and if this is stressing you, it is time to leave.
Sad :(

Oh wow. You are certainly at a crossroads. I'm still new here (almost 6 months) but fully understand the overwhelming time commitment and mind-set. It does take over so much.

The rewards are many ...

... as are the sacrifices ...

I guess it's just a weigh of pros and cons.

:)

Linda

And I'm here because you left me such an amazing comment on my blog post about the memories of my sister and her sharing of her seamstress skills with me ... it was truly touching and greatly appreciated!

You should blog only if and when you want to. You need to enjoy what you are doing and we will still be here to follow your posts when you have time. If you took a break, you wouldn't be the first blogger to ever do that. Life is short and full of opportunities, choose the ones that make you happy!

I get it Nan... I do it because I want to, for a while I thought I would stop too... I'm running out of room in my house ! When you feel like it do it, when you have something better to do then do that....

Hi Nan,
I am totally insync with your thoughts - lately I have been blogging only once a week or so and that seems to be more fitting for me. There is so much life to live but on the other hand - I have enjoyed immensely the projects you have shared and you have inspired me to be more creative!! So a big thank you whatever you decide to do.
Warmest regards,
Peggy
